“The Winds of Change”
This is the title of a chapter from the book “Listen to the Drum”, by Blackwood Jones and Gina Jones. The book is dedicated to Alcoholics Anonymous and its members. Blackwolf was born in the spring of 1935 and so was AA. ; had AA not helped him this book probably wouldn’t exist.
I will from time to time quote Blackwolf. I had the privilege of spending a day with him in the 90’s–he is very inspirational.
Today I am going to quote from Alcoholics Anonymous because its calling me and you will see why–“If we always do what we’ve always done, we’ll always get what we’ve always got. And if nothing changes…nothing changes.”
I can guess that most of you are a bit like me– we keep saying we are going to change–but we don’t. It might be a messy area, a pattern of doing business, more serious a toxic relationship, a job, family relationships that you won’t deal with–it could be emotional, or maybe even depression-but we all have areas that we avoid and won’t change.
Spring is the perfect time to sit quietly and make a “maybe painful” list of areas where you need to make changes. And, now you have to COMMIT to making an effort. Once you start, you will find it gets easier and easier. So, when you choose something, know in your heart that you want to change. I guarantee you -that as you see and feel progress-the toxicity starts to leave your body, you’ll have positive change.
